Celebrating all things design - Work Interiors appoints top talent to design team
Adam Atkinson and Richard Sneddon both join the team at Work Interiors, based at Harewood Yard, from the design arm of global solutions company Atkins.
One of the UK’s most talented young designers, Adam, 27, joins the company to head up the team. Adam successfully created and developed the interior design unit at Atkins’ Leeds location and during his time with the company managed a complete re-brand of their offices – a move which set a blueprint for the entire company and transformed the Epsom office into Atkins’ flagship workspace.
Not one to be pigeonholed, Adam has worked on an expansive range of projects throughout his career from offices for one of the UK’s leading media and production companies to a BREEAM exemplar school in Richmond and the first 5* hotel in Pakistan. Recognised for his achievements, Adam has won many awards including an FX Design Award for an innovative retail display using Corian, a solid surface material. Adam impressed the judges with his inventive design which made use of the product’s invisible joints and effectively showcased its versatility.
Attracted to Work Interiors by its unrivalled reputation throughout the country, Adam’s role will be to develop and diversify the interiors unit of the business. With an innate passion for design both in and out of the workplace, Adam will be making his mark on Work Interiors’ own brand identity and plans to grow the business organically by diversifying into new sectors.
“We have a fantastic platform within Work Interiors to begin branching out into new sectors and really take the company to new heights of design excellence. Design is about improving people’s lives and within Work Interiors we have the team and capability to so. We are building a team of multi-skilled and extremely creative designers that has the potential to be one of the best in the country and with the support of a business as passionate about design as Work Inc Group; we have every chance of achieving our goal.”
Working with Adam will be principal designer Richard Sneddon. Richard’s design experience spans an eclectic range of interior design projects within the health and leisure, commercial, residential and retail sectors. Some of his most celebrated projects include a Las Vegas casino and an S&M themed nightclub.
Richard brings a new design-edge to Work Interiors, using his experience to bring fresh creative talent to the team.
Adam and Richard have already worked together on a series of illustrious projects, most recently the iconic City Campus East at the University of Northumbria, part of a major £136 million investment project. The building, which incorporates a number of sustainable features, has just been named the North East Landmark of the Year at the annual Landmark Awards.
The team is looking forward to working together on more projects at Work Interiors and are currently designing one of the most sought-after residencies in West Yorkshire – a Grade II listed Georgian rectory in Addingham.
Work Interiors has built a reputation for being one of the UK’s most successful interior design and fit out companies. Tom Jamieson, managing director, welcomes the appointments.
“At Work Interiors we’re proud of our design-led approach and the addition of Adam and Richard to the Work Interiors team will help us to continue leading the way in interior design.
“The breadth and depth of experience that they bring to the team will allow us to give our clients an even better service.”
