This company is one of the industry's premier analog companies, creating high performance analog devices and subsystems. Headquartered in Santa Clara, California, it reported sales of $2.16 billion for its most recent fiscal year.
When seeking to outsource their support services they wanted a FM services partner who could provide exceptional service standards and a fully managed operation allowing them to focus on core business.
What we did
The contract was awarded to the team on the basis of their ability to offer a range of services with promise of flexibility at a competitive price. The contract covers a broad range of services at this large and very complex site. Using a dedicated multi-skilled team FM services delivered include Manned Security, Reception, Mailroom Office and Production Area cleaning to Class 10 Clean room standards, Fabric Maintenance and on-site Waste Management. The contract also includes a range of managed services such as Life Safety Systems, Electronic Security, and Grounds Maintenance.
Making it work
At this site there is always a challenge on FM resources. ‘Multi-skilling’ of front line staff offers a real opportunity to drive performance from grass roots whilst at the same time boost flexibility, motivate the site teams, and maximise efficiency.
Mobilisation was a key aspect of laying the foundations for this partnership. It took less than 6 weeks and within a short time of setting up the contract a competency-based training scheme had been arranged for staff on site.
A comprehensive system of management reporting was quickly implemented. These included weekly ongoing reviews covering supplier safety and security, communication, value added or service improvement and Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s).
KPI reporting allowed the client to track trends and spot potential problems and improvement opportunities. The results show that multi-skilling of personnel worked to drive service levels up and costs down;

A review of waste management services showed significant wastage in the staff restaurant. A new recycling focus was instigated in that area further supporting the company's sustainability and environmental policies.
