What we found
The National Council for Education designs and awards qualifications in centres and colleges across the UK . A significant increase in number of staff (35%) was forcing the them to consider moving into a new office. Alongside this growth they felt new offices would enable them to move away from a traditional and staid reputation towards a more modern and customer focused approach.
What we did
A prestigious development in the heart of the city's regeneration area was chosen as a great location for new premises to house their fast growing organisation and reflect their culture and values.
Work Interiors were faced with these challenges:
- Improve communication, allow the free flow of information, encourage a closer working environment and allow teams to mix
- Set the client apart from the competition through unique, modern and contemporary office design
- Raise the client's profile with a workspace to be proud of
Making it work
Work Interiors created a workspace design that clearly expressed their vision as an organisation.
The finished design involved the bold use of colours and curved feature walls. A full height, glass etched wall runs alongside the entire length of one wall, emblazoned with the company logo.
The Reception area is very prominent with its contemporary desk becoming a strong visual feature. Funky, modern shelves sit behind the desk hosting an array of sculptures made by a local artist.
The space has been designed to incorporate open-plan working and private meeting rooms within glass offices – no secrets behind closed doors!
The café style breakout area is contemporary with lots of light allowing staff to mix in an informal stylish way. There are also break-out areas and a library to encourage staff to relax and take time-out. The use of colour and light, not walls, define these areas.
The NCFE is now welcoming more visitors than ever before! These visitors recognise that the new premises are a fantastic place to meet and work. The area is often used by Citygate developers as a show suite to highlight what can be achieved through effective workplace design.
