Case study
Global Real Estate Advisors
What we found
DTZ, one of the world's leading real estate advisers, was relocating its Newcastle offices to the 90,000 sq ft Central Square South building in the city centre. They turned to Work Interiors (WI), with whom they had a 10 year relationship, to project manage the move and complete the entire design and fit out of the 9,000 sq ft office space.
The Brief:
- Reflect DTZ's position in the marketplace; a leader in its field
- Create a space that inspires visitors and staff whilst supporting the way they work
- Mirror the DTZ brand and culture throughout the design
- Deliver the project on time, to budget, working seamlessly with people across DTZ
What we did
The project ran from October 2006 to June 2007. Initial consultation process involved a series of briefings with DTZ and WI teams outlining the brief, objectives, challenges and desired outcomes.
WI Principal Designer Elaine Cater interpreted these objectives into the design of the new office space. WI project management team led by Jon Coster coordinated a seamless fit out working in tandem with DTZ internal move management team and other contractors. Office furniture supply, installation and move management timings and logistics were managed by sister company Work Services.
Key Features:
Reception: Awe-inspiring design with a reception desk to rival any cutting edge hotel and ceramic floor sourced in Italy. The waiting area includes a ‘touch down' for visitors encourage mobile working
Office: Floor to ceiling windows around the entire work space with circular views of the seven bridges across the Tyne as well as The Sage and Baltic Centre. Natural light and use of bright, inspirational colour schemes make it a motivating place to work
Meeting Rooms: No two meeting rooms are the same. Board room furniture makes a strong impact against the subtle decoration throughout the room. One room includes a breathtaking digital wall print of Bamburgh beach (50 miles from Newcastle)
Furniture: A combination of new furniture and recovered furniture has been installed at DTZ. Recycling furniture parts, including existing desk legs and frames met sustainable objectives for DTZ
Making it Work
"Since the move into the new offices I've had great feedback from staff and clients alike.
It was a model move from start to finish. The speed and co-ordination of the move ensured a seamless transition from one building to another, with minimal business interruption.
Every morning I walk through the door I feel the ‘wow' factor has well and truly been achieved"
Tony Hordon, Director of Agency, DTZ
