Case study
Brewery
What we found
This large Northern site belongs to one of the biggest breweries in the industry. The company realized 13.3 billion euros in 2006, holds the number one or two positions in over 20 key markets and currently has up to 86,000 employees worldwide.
The brewery was looking to outsource their increasingly complex and costly FM services operations at their site in the North-West, UK. A variety of sub-contractor arrangements, complex administrative processes for invoicing, high management costs for FM services and escalating costs on individual service lines at client sites were becoming significant challenges for the company. Add to this the fact that the current provision of services were not specifically tailored to the company’s business needs and the results were escalating costs and service standards that were being driven into the ground.
What we did
Faced with these challenges, when awarded the contract, the following solutions were immediately put in place:
-
Re-negotiation of costs, terms and service levels on sub-contracted service
-
Provided single fixed invoice to client
-
Removed client management requirement
-
Introduced audit system for client feedback
-
Tailored cleaning schedules to meet business needs and increased cleaning from 5 to 7 day service
-
Enhanced security procedures
-
Tailored reporting structure for business critical services such as pest control
The tailored provision of FM services, effective management of sub-contracted services and streamlining and monitoring of processes and procedures have made a significant impact towards lowering costs for the brewery. Over 3 years the successful implementation of these solutions saw a £533K saving. In addition, cleaning audits increased from 40% to 95% over 2 years and a rigorous Health & Safety regime was installed and managed. Through the delivery of high performance on-site teams that offered a flexible and proactive service, the client was able to recognise an increase in service levels and focus more effectively on their core business activity.
